VesselTill Privacy Policy

VesselTill (“VesselTill”, “we”, “us”) is a free, offline-first point-of-sale (POS) app for market vendors and small businesses. This policy explains what data VesselTill handles, how it is used, and the choices you have. It covers, in particular, the Google account and Google Drive data used by the optional VesselTill Sync feature.

The short version: The core VesselTill app runs entirely on your own device and needs no account. Your sales and product data are stored locally on your device. If you choose to turn on Sync, VesselTill backs up your own data to your own Google Drive — not to our servers. We only ever touch the backup files VesselTill itself creates. We never read the rest of your Drive, and we never sell your data.

1. Data stored on your device

When you use VesselTill, your business data — your product list, sales history (receipts), staff names if you add them, and business settings — is stored locally on your device using your browser’s local storage. This data stays on your device and is not sent to us unless you choose to enable Sync (below).

2. Optional Sync: Google account and Google Drive

Sync is entirely optional. The app is fully functional without it. If you choose to connect your Google account for Sync:

Google account information (openid, email, profile)

When you sign in, we ask Google for your account identifier, email address, and name. We use these only to:

identify which Google account a backup belongs to;
link the device (till) you are using to the correct account;
if you subscribe to paid Sync, associate your subscription with your account.

We store your Google account identifier and email on our backend solely as an account/identity and contact reference. We do not use this information for advertising, and we do not build advertising profiles.

Google Drive (drive.file)

With your permission, VesselTill stores a backup of your business data in a private “VesselTill” folder in your own Google Drive. Important points:

The backup contains only your own business data (products, sales history, and settings).
The backup is stored in your Drive, under your control — not on any VesselTill server.
VesselTill uses the narrow drive.file permission, which means the app can only access files it created itself. VesselTill never reads, lists, opens, or modifies any other file in your Google Drive, and has no access to your existing Drive contents.
You can revoke VesselTill’s access at any time from your Google Account permissions page, and you can delete the backup file from your Drive at any time.

VesselTill’s use of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.

3. Payments (paid Sync)

If you subscribe to a paid VesselTill Sync plan, payments are processed by our payment provider, Polar, acting as merchant of record. Payment card details are handled by the payment provider; VesselTill does not receive or store your full card details. We receive confirmation of your subscription status so we can enable your Sync features. VesselTill does not process payments itself and is not a payment processor.

4. Analytics

VesselTill uses privacy-respecting usage analytics to understand whether features are used and to improve the app. We record a small number of milestone actions (for example: app installed, template downloaded, product list loaded, sale completed). We do not send your sales figures, prices, product names, totals, or any customer details in analytics. A completed sale only records that one happened and the payment type, never the amount.

5. How we share data

We do not sell your data. We do not use Google user data for advertising. We share data only with infrastructure providers strictly necessary to operate the service — our hosting provider, and (for paid Sync) our payment provider — and never the contents of your Drive backup.

6. Data retention and deletion

On-device data: remains until you clear it from your device.
Drive backup: lives in your own Google Drive; you can delete it at any time.
Account identifier / subscription record: retained while your account or subscription is active. To request deletion of your account data held by us, contact us at the email below.

7. Children

VesselTill is a business tool intended for adults operating a business and is not directed at children.

8. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The “last updated” date at the top reflects the latest version.
